We celebrated our anniversary early in Manila with a planning session and team-building activities filled with fun memories that last a lifetime.
Five months since our quick getaway to the beautiful shores of Dumaguete for our beach-themed Christmas party, the coolest and nicest people on Earth were back together again! But this time, we took the busy streets of Manila by storm.
David, a.k.a the best boss ever, and the young and lively Dumaguete team flew to the Philippine capital and met up with our colleagues based in Manila for our four-day-long adventure, kickstarting our second-year celebration with a planning session and a series of team-building activities.
Before going all out on our planned activities, we sat down and planned how we, as a team, could elevate the services we offer to our dear clients. We discussed the status of current projects, re-evaluated the company’s growth plan, raised marketing challenges and solutions, and pitched new ideas and strategies integral to our company and clients.
All these we did over a hearty lunch at Milagrito’s, with our palettes savoring the fusion of truly delectable Filipino, American, and Spanish flavors while enjoying the view of Manila Bay.
Note to self: Don’t forget to take photos! We enjoyed the company and food so much that we forgot to take photos other than their Truffle Honey and Four Cheese pizza.
We had a handful of great things planned during our stay, but our spontaneous moments, like the impromptu race in the fourth-largest mall in the Philippines, made our trip more fun and memorable.
Febby prepared several challenges that unleashed our competitive side and put our teamwork and decision-making skills to the test. From simple ones like taking a groufie with Captain America and the happiest bee in the world (yep, it’s Jollibee!) to twirling around like skating pros in front of the skating rink and hopping on the grand carousel, we gracefully did them all albeit out of breath.
In the end, Ian, Jake, and Jeiel outplayed the other teams in the race and snatched the cash prize. But more than winning, this race taught us more about the importance of cooperation, motivation, and leadership.
Of course, we made sure our tummies are as full as our hearts are. Besides the heavenly breakfast buffet at Belmont Hotel in New Port City, we also sated our appetite at restaurants handpicked by our team members.
True to its promise, Medley Buffet at Okada Manila allowed us to discover the flavors of the world, offering local and international cuisines, including Chinese, Indian, Japanese, and Korean.
As if we could not get enough of the Asian flavors, we also dined in Yabu: House of Katsu, a Japanese restaurant famous for its fried and bread-crumb-covered pork, seafood, and chicken.
We also tried and enjoyed the popular bulgogi-marinated barbecue meat offered at the premium Korean barbecue restaurant, Bulgogi Brothers, and relished the foodgasmic experience with our team.
With drinks in our hands, a cool breeze, and upbeat music courtesy of the in-house DJ, our last night together for our Manila adventure could not have been any better.
We shared funny stories–some were embarrassing–and had a great time witnessing our colleagues get a bit tipsy. We played several drinking games, making everybody in our circle drink, loosen up, and have one of the best times of our lives.
We stayed beneath the stars until the rooftop closed at 10 in the evening, smiling and thinking how lucky we were to be part of Lumenvo. Awww.
Watch out for our next blog for the continuation of our team building at ATV Adventures Rizal, where we had an extraordinary time crossing rocky terrains, shooting paintballs, and trying to hit the bullseye with arrows.
