Off-Roading and Beyond: Lumenvo Goes Extreme in Rizal, Philippines

Our inner adrenaline junkies unleashed!

Fresh from our planning session and team building in Manila, we headed to ATV Adventures Rizal, where we experienced a thrilling ATV ride along the beautiful landscape of the Sierra Madre mountain range. We followed through with an intense round of paintball and had a fun, challenging time doing archery and obstacle courses.

Doing these extreme outdoor activities was a first for most of us, so waking up in the wee hours of the morning was not a problem. Excited and all geared up for what awaited us in Rizal, off we went and endured almost two hours of travel from the heart of Metro Manila.

Ready, Set, Skrrt!

We had a quick hands-on tutorial at the start. Each of us hopped on the ATV to get a feel of it before braving the winding trail up and down the mountains leading to a beautiful river. Some guidelines, after all, must be followed, including a 30-kph speed limit and a strict no-overtaking rule.

We chose to do the river trail, an intermediate-level trail. And although most of us were first-timers, we handled it like true champs. Yep, there was a lot of tire screeching and the occasional but minor head-on collisions at first, but the longer we rode the ATV, the better we got at driving through a mix of flat, rocky, and concrete roads. None of us got our ATVs stuck in the mud, but Sho’s ATV somehow got stuck to Ian’s for five seconds!

After almost four hours on the trail under the scorching sun (thank God for sunscreens), we returned to the starting point, sweaty, wrists mildly aching, and fulfilled to have unlocked another achievement.

Locked and Loaded

After a satisfying lunch at Caza Peregrine, a mere seven-minute drive from ATV Adventures Rizal with a breathtaking view of Sierra Madre, we were back and ready for more adrenaline-fueled activities.

Next on the itinerary: Paintball!

Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj’s 2014 hit Bang Bang perfectly fit our heart-pounding paintball experience. Already recharged, we put on our safety gear, divided ourselves into two groups, and covered our respective bases in the dead zone, taking cover in various obstacles for protection and tactical advantages.

With only a sheet of metal roof covering us from the other team’s paintballs, we ducked, aimed, and shot, hoping to make at least one legal hit. Naz got to splatter green ink on Nona’s arm at point-blank range, but that, sadly, was an illegal shot. But besides him, none of us scored.

Despite our valiant efforts, at least some of us got to experience our Counter-Strike and Valorant fantasies in real life, even briefly. Will there be another round? We will see!

Eyes on the Target

While waiting for our turn in the archery range, brave souls like David, Febby, Nona, Earl, and Naz tested their muscle power and endurance by completing different obstacle courses.

But as soon as our friendly instructor called us over to the range, we all had one thing in mind: how in the world do you shoot an arrow? (LOL)

Archery was also new for most of our team, but we did not let this stop us from unlocking another achievement. We channeled our inner Katniss Everdeen and Legolas and followed our guide’s instructions.

Granted that the first few shots were way off the target–some even went beyond the target board–we slowly got the hang of it and started landing our arrows closer to the center. Some of us even hit the bullseye! Now that was something for the books.
